Key social event of the World Congress 2009:
The Bavarian Evening offers a delightful opportunity to experience the culture of the conference host country. The famous Löwenbräukeller Festival Hall invites guests to meet and mingle with friends and colleagues from around the world while enjoying a hearty Bavarian meal or delicious international specialties. Add the outstanding beer, traditional music and dancing, and you’ll have a perfect evening!
The Löwenbräukeller is the restaurant complex with enormous beer garden originally located next to the huge Löwenbräu Brewery, which has since moved to a new site. The historic building opened its doors on June 14, 1883 with a seating capacity of over 8,000. Although most of the building was destroyed during a bombing raid in 1944, it was rebuilt in a smaller version (2,500 seats) in the same style. Today, the Festival Hall gives guests a true taste of the traditional and quite unique Munich beer hall culture. The Hall is conveniently located next to the local subway (U-Bahn) station at Stiglmaier Platz right across the street.
